The small village Lampocoy is located at an altitude of 1,200 m in the eastern highlands of Guatemala, in the coffee cultivation area “Nuevo Oriente”. The majority of its inhabitants live on coffee cultivation. That works well thanks to the specially designed sales network, even though the annual harvest of approximately 30 tons of green coffee is relatively small. This coffee is not traded via middlemen, but directly. Due to these direct sales, the farmers receive a price that is significantly above the world market level. This project was made possible by the “discoverer” Detlef Corts. He was a reporter researching the Mayan culture in Guatemala and Honduras when he took notice of this village and its premium coffee. He decided to help the farmers in the long term by establishing a suitable sales system for their coffee from which you may now also profit. The altitude of 1,200 m, the cool and humid micro climate and the very deeply weathered soil makes this a coffee with an exceptionally nice, full body with an elegant acidity, a light fruity flavor and a hint of chocolate and caramel. The exceptional climatic conditions ensure that the Lampocoy is a top coffee from Guatemala, which must not fear the comparison with the Antigua brand
